RORY McABEE joined the Mosquito Control Research Laboratory in September 1999 after completing a Bachelor's degree in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior from UC Davis.  Since that time he has completed a Master's of  Biology from CSU Fresno.  

Rory is a Specialist and his primary responsibility is developing cytogenetics of the Culex pipiens complex.  This includes the development of a polytene chromosome map, construction of cDNA and genomic libraries, and in situ hybridization.  Rory also has cytogenetic experience with Anopheles gambiae.  In the past Rory has conducted a number of studies that include both molecular and biochemical analysis of mosquitoes for population genetics as well as resistance management (Cornel et al. 2002; McAbee et al. 2004).  In addition, Rory has experience with GIS and helps in the maintenance of mosquito colonies.
