RORY McABEE joined the Mosquito Control Research Laboratory in September 1999 after completing a Bachelor's degree in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior from UC Davis. Since that time he has completed a Master's of Biology from CSU Fresno. Rory is a Specialist and his primary responsibility is developing cytogenetics of the Culex pipiens complex. This includes the development of a polytene chromosome map, construction of cDNA and genomic libraries, and in situ hybridization. Rory also has cytogenetic experience with Anopheles gambiae. In the past Rory has conducted a number of studies that include both molecular and biochemical analysis of mosquitoes for population genetics as well as resistance management (Cornel et al. 2002; McAbee et al. 2004). In addition, Rory has experience with GIS and helps in the maintenance of mosquito colonies. |
